Keith Urban's Heartfelt Salute To Glen Campbell

Glen Campbell had many fans among his peers, but Keith Urban was a big one. The superstar joined countless others in the music community in memorializing the "Rhinestone Cowboy," but offered a touching personal story to go with it.

Keith began by noting the influence Campbell had on him, and explained in artists' terms why that was. "His blend of genres created his own sound and style and his ability to entertain wasn't limited to the stage," Keith wrote on Facebook. "He blazed real trails through film (and especially television) where his charismatic southern charm and personality fit perfectly."

Most interesting was an experience Keith enjoyed after winning his very first ACM Award in 2000. "I got back to my hotel room and there was a fax on the floor," Keith recalled. "'Welcome to the award winning world kid. You got it. Glen Campbell.'"

"No wonder he was a global superstar," the "Blue Ain't Your Color" singer concluded. "I love Glen for so many reasons – but above all, for his humanity. My thoughts and prayers are with Kim and all of his extended family today. May peace be with you all. Go rest high on that mountain, Glen."
