A long list of country stars call Nashville home, but not Justin Moore. The "Somebody Else Will" singer still lives in his hometown of Poyen, AR, population 290. Why? It's a pride thing.
Justin explains his affection for the tiny town with a football analogy. "Arkansas doesn't have the same recruiting ground that Louisiana or Alabama or Florida or Texas has or whatever," he says through his record label. "And so we have 10 D-1 prospects a year come out of Arkansas whereas the other ones I just mentioned may have 60. Well you have one or two of those guys who choose to go to Alabama or Florida or wherever and it just hurts your heart. You're like man, if you guys would all stay here and carry the same sense of pride as the other eight or nine that want to go play for Arkansas ... then we could do something really special. Like we could take this little bitty tiny thing that nobody gives any credit to and we could compete with Alabama, we could compete with Florida."
Me, kate, and the kids are ready for @RazorbackFB @BretBielema woo pig!
Strange analogy? Justin doesn't think so. "People in small towns – [it doesn't] matter if it's south or the north – carry that same sense of a chip on their shoulder ... they just want to be recognized as legitimate in whatever it is."
JUST ANNOUNCED: The "Hell On A Highway" Tour with special guest @DylanScottCntry! Get all the details at https://t.co/5rK5OskwHR
We suspect Justin's hometown is as proud of him as he is of it. The Arkansan just celebrated his seventh No. 1 song with "Somebody Else Will," and just released the title track from Kinda Don't Care as his next single." Check out his touring schedule here.
