When Luke Combs was asked to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry by John Conlee, Chris Janson and Craig Morgan last week it took him by surprise.

Luke shared with us his thoughts that night, "Man! Just talk about not knowing what to say or what to do. And yeah, they got me real good because my parents were here and I didn’t know it. Everybody is here and I didn’t know it. I went out to dinner with my fiance and I’m sure that she knew. And, usually, I’m the guy that’s like, I’m like ‘Something’s going on.’ I can always kind of tell, but I was like genuinely floored, like absolutely flabbergasted, when John and Craig and Chris came out."

He continued, "We finished our third song and I knew we were doing four songs. And, I heard them say 'Luke Combs,' and I was like ‘Oh well like I guess we’re only doing three. I guess I heard wrong, cuz I thought it was like play me off and then like someone is touching my shoulder and I’m like ‘What’s going on here?’ And then they’re like ‘We’re gonna sing with ya.’ And I’m like ‘Oh, ok. Great. 'Lets do it.’ And you know, holy cow! I just can’t believe it and I’m standing here in the circle and like- I can’t believe we’re having this conversation. It’s just- I just can’t even put it into words really. It’s unbelievable."

Combs posted the day after getting the invitation, "This is the absolute feather in my cap for me as far as career goals. It is the absolute No. 1 thing for me. It cannot be surpassed. It’s something I’ve dreamed about since I made my debut. It’s such a storied thing."
