Tomorrow morning at 7:30am, the KICKS Wake-up Krew announces the first three stars of this year's Guitar Pull, live during their Waffle House Tour stop.

I was at the first ever Guitar Pull and have been to everyone except for three years when I moved to Tampa.  This is an incredible event that just gets bigger every year!  We started with a 400 seat venue that took a month to sell out, now we sell out the James Brown Arena! The best part of it all… all the money raised over the years to benefit the United Way to help families locally in the Augusta area.

My favorite Guitar Pull memory?  The one after 9-11.  Brad Paisley was on that one and Chris Cagle was, too.  I asked Brad to play the Star Spangled Banner to close out the show as a huge American flag unfurled on the back of the stage.  Unrehearsed, Chris Cagle began to recite the Pledge of Allegiance as the entire audience at the Bell Auditorium came out of their seats.  It was a special moment and one we needed at the time.

What's your favorite KICKS 99 Guitar Pull memory?

Tee has worked with KICKS 99 for over 24 years as Operations Manager and Program Director and is on-air each afternoon 3p-7p. When he’s not working, you’ll find him traveling the back roads, taking pictures, and searching for the next dive diner. Favorite place to visit? That’s easy. Folly Beach, SC. He’s usually there at least a few times a year. He lives in North Augusta and on Saturdays in the fall, you’ll find him cooking out and watching his Clemson Tigers. Tee likes to write about travel, Augusta local dive bars and diners and destinations in the Carolinas, as well as new business.
