NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 14: An Uber SUV waits for a client in Manhattan a day after it was announced that Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick will take a leave of absence as chief executive on June 14, 2017 in New York City. The move came after former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr. and his law firm, Covington & Burling, released 13 pages of recommendations compiled as part of an investigation of sexual harassment at the ride-hailing car service. Miyah is an Über driver who also needs to add world-changer to her resumé…

Miyah was assigned to an Über client named Diane, and while driving Diane to her job at a local fast food restaurant, Miyah learned that Diane was a grandmother, going through a hard time financially. Diane takes care of her grandchildren and always puts herself last, but she was saving her extra money so that she’d be able to buy herself a new dress for Christmas.

Miyah dropped Diane off at work, but couldn’t stop thinking about what she’d just heard. Instead of brushing it off, Miyah decided to spring into action and do something to help Diane. She went to Old Navy and bought Diane a new dress, and a fifty dollar Visa gift card. Miyah then surprised Diane at the drive-thru where she works, and Diane’s reaction is priceless…

It probably wasn’t convenient for Miyah to take time out of her day to go buy Diane that dress and gift card, but taking the time to be so thoughtful made Diane’s day. It’s an important reminder that kindness isn’t always convenient, but it’s always worth it; and even one small act of kindness like Miyah’s makes the world a better place.
