(Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)In 1967, Colonel Roy Knight, Jr., hugged his family goodbye at the Dallas airport, and left to serve in the Vietnam War. He never returned home.
Until recently, Col. Knight’s remains had never been found, but his homecoming to the United States is going viral today.
As the plane carrying Col. Knight’s remains approached the airport, an announcement was made, alerting airport customers that a fallen hero was on his way home—and the pilot of the plane was none other than Col. Knight’s own son.
What happened next is almost unbelievable: the ENTIRE airport—every passenger, worker, etc. stopped what they were doing, fell silent and shifted their attention to the airplane carrying Col. Knight.
Many customers held up American flags in salute of Col. Knight, who served his country and finally returned home to where he had said goodbye, fifty two years later.
