Sam Hunt co-wrote his new song "Kinfolks," a song about families.

"For the most part, it came together pretty easily because it was pretty straightforward," Hunt says. "It's just kind of being flirtatious with this girl who you meet and you're impressed with and you're trying to be clever with. And so it just kind of turned into like a silly pickup line at the end of the day. That's my mom. Her name is Joan. Yeah, my brother calls her Joanie, and so I wanted to put a little to give it a little personal time. So I threw that line in there."

He added, "When I think of kinfolk, I think of my family. But also I think about just my people back home. But even beyond my family, my buddies and people who have been a part of my story from the beginning and I've met a lot of I've made a lot of new friends and met a lot of new people who were important to me as I've moved away from my hometown."

Hunt posted to Instagram recently, "KINFOLKS, now out everywhere!"
