Tim McGraw's a busy guy: tomorrow (November 5) he releases a new book, Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life. It's his second book of the year: Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest, and the Music That Made a Nation, which he co-wrote with Jon Meacham, was published in June.

But he hasn't left his own music on the backburner: he recently called into Boston's Country 102.5 to talk about Grit & Grace, and host Carolyn Kruse asked him about the status of his upcoming album. When will it be out?

"Soon," he said, revealing "We just finished the album, we're just going through it now, figuring out the best way to deliver it to everybody. We've got a lot of great songs. It's the best work I've ever done."

He said that there isn't a release date yet. "It will be before the middle of the year next year."

He also discussed Grit & Grace, and the role that physical fitness has had in his life: "I fail all the time, I fail as a father, I fail as a boss, I fail as a friend. Everybody does [fail], everybody has failure in their life. but what I've found is the path that I've taken, to try to keep myself as physically fit as I can, leads to a clearer mind and also leads to being able to get back up when you fall down quicker."

Finally, he mentioned that he does not have any film roles lined up at the moment, but he pointed out that he's preparing for two graduations: one of his daughters finishes high school this year, while another finishes college.

Brian has been working in pop culture and media for about three decades: he’s worked at MTV, VH1, SiriusXM, CBS and Loudwire. Besides working as a writer and an editor-in-chief, he’s also appeared on air as a pundit, guested on radio shows and hosted podcasts. Over the years, he’s interviewed the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, the members of U2, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Stevie Nicks, Lorde… and is grateful to have had the chance to interview Joe Strummer of the Clash and Tom Petty.
