Just before Blake Shelton won Single of the Year for "God's Country" last week (11/13) at the CMA Awards, he leaned back and offered Dan + Shay, who were sitting behind him at the show, some choice words if they won the honor.
Blake told us, "They were sitting directly behind me and I turned around and I said, 'Hey, if you guys win this award, I'm gonna kick your ass because I haven't been nominated for any of this stuff in like 100 years.' So, we decided the course [but] I didn't follow through."
Blake's plan? "Whoever won, we'd get up and talk crap on the other as our acceptance speech."
He continued jokingly, "That's the way it should go in the future. I think that might help with the ratings. If I thought there was a chance that people were going to actually throw down and fight on the CMA's I'd sit and wait for it all day."
