Last night, Brett Eldredge performed a solo acoustic version of his single "Gabrielle" on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Eldredge has been working on his next album, Sunday Drive, for quite a while: he quit social media, and spent time alone while working on the album. Watch the performance below.

Eldredge told us, "I think gratitude has been huge for me and just appreciating what I've had up to this point, no matter where we are in our lives. It's been a lot of amazing things that got us here and the uncertain situation is really hard for us. No matter if we have this right now where we have a quarantine and we don't know how to get out of it. There's a lot of people that are losing family members and it's really tough, but you can also find connection with yourself and with others to lean into the tough times and know that you've got a lot of great things in your life as well."

He adds how he gets through, "I guess staying more in the moment and trying not to look ahead for me... I start my day meditating and sitting there with, 'Hey, this is where I am and I'm OK with where I'm at. I'm going to focus on that for now and we'll get through it.'"

Back on social media, Eldredge posted about his new album, "This album wasn’t easy to make, it was scary, it was risking it all And yet very empowering...I had to find the magic back in my life and in my music...I needed to step away and not worry about any other sounds or opinions I was hearing. I needed to listen to my whole damn heart and give it a chance to speak...up til the last couple years, vulnerability has been hard for me...I think sometimes in society we are taught that chasing perfection is what brings happiness...that’s ********...letting all your imperfections shine in your life and in my case, your music as well, is what it’s all about..."

He concluded, "This album SUNDAY DRIVE is my journey of self-awareness...I hope today as you get a good little taste of what this album holds, you will find some of yourself in it, let yourself go, roll the windows down in your mind and in your heart and just BE...I love ya....here we go."

The album will be out on July 10.
