Kelly Clarkson’s Marriage Is Over, And 2020 Might As Well Be At This Point
Remember at the beginning of the year when we were all like, “YASSS, 2020 ’bout to be MY year!” L-O-FREAKING-L
As if a global pandemic, economic crash, murder hornets, jellyfish invasion, racial injustices and national riots weren’t enough, THIS just happened…
E! News has confirmed, as have many other reputable celebrity news outlets, that Kelly Clarkson and her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, are divorcing.
I’m not ok, y’all. I don’t expect anyone to have a perfect relationship, but Kelly & Brandon’s seemed pretty darn close—less than two months ago, he and three of their kids shared this sweet birthday message to Kelly:

This was such a sweet moment between Kelly & Brandon:
Neither Kelly nor Brandon have publicly commented since this news broke today, but Entertainment Tonight has acquired a few details about the split:
- Kelly filed for divorce last Thursday (June 4) in Los Angeles
- As with most celeb splits, the reason for divorce is cited as “irreconcilable differences.”
- Kelly has asked for joint custody of her & Brandon’s two children, River & Remy
- Kelly asked for termination of the ability to pay spousal support to Brandon
- Kelly had her last name legally changed to Blackstock, and she’s asking the court to reinstate her legal last name to Clarkson
This is a celebrity split that I never saw coming (I kept this one in the same file as Tim McGraw in Faith Hill), so if it has to end, I really hope that it doesn’t turn out to be a hateful, hurtful, ugly, dramatic divorce. *insert a hundred crying faces & broken heart emojis here*
