Lady A recently changed their name from Lady Antebellum to Lady A (the word "antebellum" refers to the pre-Civil War south, when slavery was legal). But they didn't realize that there was already a singer named Lady A, who was not happy about their change of moniker.

The blues singer, who has been performing under the name Lady A for over three decades, said she was not only irritated that the country trio appropriated the name without doing due diligence, but that she also felt it was nothing more than a PR move geared toward showing solidarity with the black community after the death of George Floyd.

So, the band reached out to her. Lady A posted to their Instagram, "Today, we connected privately with the artist Lady A. Transparent, honest, and authentic conversations were had. We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come. #LadyABluesSoulFunkGospelArtist #TheTruthIsLoud @ladya_bluesdiva @dexter_allen_entertainment @oliveriiijohn."
