It's hard to believe that a country music icon like Dolly Parton has never been on the cover of Billboard magazine until now.

Dolly posted about the new cover feature on her Instagram saying, "I’m so honored to be on the cover of @billboard for the very first time! Thank you Billboard for such a wonderful piece and @millermobley for the beautiful photos."

In the lengthy article, Parton talks about many things including the Black Lives Matter movement, saying, "Of course Black Lives Matter," and what life is like for her during COVID-19.

Dolly said of the pandemic and what it's done to her many holdings including her Dollywood theme park, “Hopefully by coming back, we’ll pick up some stuff that we’ve lost. All of the things that I’m involved in are on hold, even my production companies and the movies — everything [took] a big hit. But I still believe, still trust God, and I’m still hoping for the best.”

As for her Billboard chart cred, Parton has 25 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart — the most of any female artist — and is also the only artist to have a top 20 hit on that chart in every decade from the 1960s to 2010s.

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
