This year has been hard for most people all over the world, but for Maren Morris, having her first child at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic has been quite a challenge.

Maren said, "I think it’s thrown every person on this planet for a loop, and for me being a very postpartum mother, having an emergency C-section, figuring out motherhood, and also not being able to really show my baby off to friends and family because you can’t be around anyone is really isolating."

Being without the music has also been hard, she says, "Having to basically cancel my tour for the year, I really had to figure out who I was outside of music this year, and I think if I didn’t have Ryan, my husband, to be with me and our baby, I really would be struggling because so much of my identity has been wrapped up in music for so long that this year I’ve had to really dig and find-I wouldn’t call it 'hell' but it’s definitely not what I expected."

Morris adds, "I think that’s where you have the most growth is when you’re scared and insecure and you’re not in your comfort zone, so that’s what this year has been like for me."
