Last week, ABC announced that Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will all return for American Idol's upcoming season, the show's fourth installment on the network after leaving Fox. Ryan Seacrest will also be back to host the show.

Before the announcement was made, Luke Bryan felt good about returning telling us how the show may change since COVID-19. Luke said, "I would say that there will be significant ways that we have to tape it just based on, you know, adhering to social distancing and how we get contestants out there."

He added, "You will notice changes, but at the end of the day any changes are just simply predicated because we're doing our best to make the best show. I think there's a way that we can integrate video and actually be there and me in LA. Let's just say that the judges table will probably be six feet apart."

Bryan posted about returning saying, "Here we go! Season 4 of #AmericanIdol is going to be awesome! If you think you’re #TheNextIdol, audition online or face-to-face virtually with a producer! Choose your state day or show up to our nationwide open call on August 25th! americanidol.com/auditions."
