54th CMA Awards Show Will Have No Live Audience

In a letter to members of the Country Music Association, a day after the CMA nominations were read, President of the CMA Sarah Trahern announced that the CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville on November 11, 2020, will not have a live audience for the show.

Sarah said in part on the letter, "As we are all aware, 2020 has been a shocking and challenging year for most. Now almost six months into this crisis, I want you all to know that we have not and will not slow down our efforts to support and uplift each and every CMA member and our industry as a whole. Through our educational events, our compiled resources, our conversations with government officials, and our many conversations with you, we remain committed, as your trade organization, to continue searching for ways to provide help and relief to our industry."

She continued, "As we navigate the months ahead, we expect to make a number of changes as it relates to the production of the event. As for the ceremony itself, we remain committed to delivering the safest and most memorable live television experience our artists, creators and fans have come to expect. Regretfully, we are unable to offer CMA Awards tickets to members as capacity inside the event will be limited to essential personnel only, as outlined by local health authorities and CDC guidelines."

Miranda Lambert tops the CMA nominations this year with seven nominations. No word on where the CMA Awards will be held this year or who is hosting.
