This week, Cash was talking about how his girlfriend, Mimi, has been experimenting with their new air fryer. (At regular price, air fryers can be kinda pricey, but if you shop around, you can find a decent one for $40 or $50 dollars.)
Anyway, like Mimi, when we first got our air fryer last year, I did a LOT of experimental cooking. Some things work GREAT in an air fryer (chicken wings, sweet potato fries, egg rolls), and other things...meh, not so much. (In my experience, fish and vegetables haven't turned out great air fried.)
THIS, however, is one of my favorite things to make in the air fryer: tortilla chips! Don't let the idea freak you out. Making your own tortilla chips is actually a pretty simple process.
Here's what you'll need:
- 1 package of tortillas (I use the low carb flour kind, but any variety, including corn, will work just fine, too.)
- Oil (Avocado, Olive, Canola, Coconut or Vegetable - you can use the spray kind, or pour oil in a bowl and brush it onto the tortillas.)
- Seasonings of your choice (If I'm serving these with guacamole or salsa, I use taco seasoning, but plain ol' salt & pepper or french fry seasonings are also great.)
