Luke Combs has five nominations at Wednesday's (11/11) CMA Awards in Nashville including the coveted Entertainer of the Year category where he is a first-time nominee. Still his mind this week is on our veterans as Veterans' Day falls on Wednesday, November 11th as well.

Luke said of honoring those who serve, "I think you need people to do that. I think that can be a job that is sometimes overlooked by a lot of folks and I am grateful that there is a whole lot of people out there that are willing to risk their lives for our ability to do what we love and not be put in harm’s way on a daily basis."

Combs added, "If you are in the military out there or if you are a first responder, I would say thank you for what you do. I can’t imagine doing your job especially in today’s climate and I’m thinking about you as are the rest of my fellow country artists for sure."

In September of this year, Luke teamed with Ford is aiding veterans with 25 thousand dollars worth of custom guitars to help expand a program that provides veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder with the opportunity to experience the healing power of music.

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
