Not long after Carly Pearce shocked the country music community with her quick divorce from Michael Ray (they were married for less than a year), Carly released her latest single, "Next Girl."

The song addresses a guy treating a girl badly, and moving from girl to girl. Pearce is singing to warn the "Next Girl." Many people wondered if that was based on her quick split with Ray. Well, she didn't come out and say it was based on her ex, but it is baed on a true story.

Or actually, a couple of stories: she and her friends have each encountered "that guy." Pearce told us, “You know, I’ve had people be like, ‘Where was this song two years ago?’ Or, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re helping me get through this,’ or ‘Oh my gosh, I sent this to my friend.’”

“They’re actually also, in return, helping me to make me feel like I’m not alone, which, that’s the really cool thing about what I do.”
