THROWBACK THURSDAY: Watch A High School Performance From Eric Church

Earlier this week, Eric Church was announced as the performer of the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl (although I wish he was doing the halftime show, but that’s another rant for another day.)
I found this footage of Eric auditioning for a high school production. He’s barely recognizable, sporting khaki pants and a long sleeve polo, sans his signature aviators (it’s nerdy Chief, and I’m very much here for it, tbh.)
Singing at the Super Bowl is a huge opportunity for any entertainer. I wonder if, growing up in Granite Falls, North Carolina, Eric ever dreamed he’d one day be performing at the biggest event in professional sports.
The clip also features one of Eric’s classmates, but cuts back to Eric just after the 2-minute mark.
