It's hard to believe that Dan + Shay have only know each other since 2012, when they met at a Nashville party. Their latest single "I Should Probably Go To Bed" is about to top the charts and as Dan told us, the song brought the guys back to their early days.

Dan told us about writing the song with Shay. "We went back to basics, like when we first met in 2012. There was no agenda, nobody breathing down our neck, no deadlines. It was just us sitting there at a piano or at a guitar and singing harmonies together, rediscovering that magic. We started singing through this song, or at least what we had of it that we came up with in L.A. and Shay starts going off after the second chorus and doing some ad libs and some cool stuff."

He continued, "So right then and there, we went upstairs at my house and my makeshift DIY studio with a mattress leaning against the wall and, you know, everything else. We tracked it right then in there and played everything ourselves. And I think that, you know, that translates, I think the fans can subconsciously feel that we poured everything we have into this one."

Symers concluded, "We knew it was an important moment for us."
