In the days that followed Betty White’s recent passing, the internet lit up with the idea of saluting the comedienne’s 100th birthday by showing support for animal charities.

Trisha Yearwood did just that, raising more than $30,000 using the Talk Shop Live platform to talk about White.

Trisha said, “Who doesn’t love Betty White? The world has really lost a wonderful person, but this is how we keep people that we love alive.”

Yearwood started “Dottie’s Yard,” a fund she helped create and actively supports. The Dottie’s Yard Fund honors one of the best dogs Trisha ever had the privilege of knowing, a rescue who showed up at her Oklahoma home back in 2004. Dottie’s legacy lives on as the fund helps dogs and cats all over the country.

She added of White, “I just think Betty right now is so happy that this is the way that the world is choosing to celebrate her birthday – by giving to animals, which was so near and dear to her heart. I don’t know who started the #BettyWhiteChallenge, but we accepted it.”

Trisha posted to Twitter yesterday (1/17), “Seriously, thank you for being a friend and doing the #BettyWhiteChallenge with me! We raised over $24k in 15 minutes and the donations are still coming in! Everyone who donates $25.00 or more will get this #DottiesYard magnet! Xo.”

She posted again hours later, “I’m blown away! We’ve already reached our goal of $30,000+, but let’s keep this love flowing!! Thank you all so much!! xo #BettyWhiteChallenge.”

  Trisha and Kelly Clarkson’s voices sound magical together, which put this song on my shortlist of Yearwood favorites. The song has been performed live by Yearwood on the “Garth Brooks World Tour.” Kelly Clarkson has made surprise appearances at the September 5 and 19, 2014 shows to sing with Yearwood. Normally, Garth Brooks sings Clarkson's part.

  One of her latest solo singles, the song was sort of a comeback to country radio for Trisha. The song was released in June 2019 as the lead single from her twelfth studio album, Every Girl, her first album of original music since 2007's Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love.

  I often sing the chorus of this song for no reason at all and living in Nashville, I guess I am on the “right side of Memphis” and quite happy about it. It was the first single released off her second studio album, Hearts in Armor.
• 2. “How Do I Live” (1997)

  This song came out at the same time as the song was released as a single by LeAnn Rimes. Trisha’s version is my favorite. Diane Warren wrote "How Do I Live" for consideration for the 1997 action blockbuster ‘Con Air’ soundtrack. It was Trisha who ended up on the movie soundtrack after Disney thought LeAnn Rimes was too young to relate to the song.

  This is a song loved by many country singers today including Carrie Underwood and Carly Pearce, who have both covered it live on stage. After a performance on The Tonight Show, Yearwood met Don Henley of the Eagles and, after being invited to sing on her second album, he traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, and recorded background vocals for the song. Another cool fact, an unknown at the time, Matthew McConaughey appears in the music video.
