Starbucks joined the chicken sandwich war and then pulled it from their menu. It seems customers and employees complained about getting sick after eating it.  According to the New York Post, Starbucks launched the Chicken, Maple Butter, and Egg Sandwich on June 21st. A short 6 days later, a memo was sent to Starbucks employees to "stop selling and discard" the sandwich immediately. This also included instructions not to donate the sandwiches.

Some complaints included biting into chicken bones, and others were saying the sandwich was cold in the middle.  A lot of customers and even the baristas were sharing on social media about stomach issues from eating the new menu item.

Starbucks issued a statement about the sandwich, saying it "did not meet Starbucks' quality standards," and adds they did issue a voluntary recall and "do not sell" order.

The sandwiches apparently were "fully cooked" but only "warmed" in store. Hopefully you weren't one of those who tried out the new Starbucks Chicken Sandwich!
