The Kicks Wake Up Krew

Weekday Mornings 5:30 - 10:00

The question is will there be a shortage of Halloween candy this year? The answer according to Hershey’s is YES! I was reading this article Washington Post article and the Hershey Company says that they will not be able to meet the demand for Halloween candy this year. They’ve given the same reasons we hear for every shortage. The war in Ukraine, ingredients are more expensive and harder to come by, etc. Apparently they started preparing for Halloween a while ago and realized that there won’t be as much candy to go around, at least not the Hershey’s brands. What I can imagine you can expect is probably smaller bags with less candy in them or the size of the actual candy will shrink. The fun size candy won’t be very fun this year. I guess this Halloween we won’t be handing out candy by the handful, every trick or treater will get one piece! I don’t know whether or not the other candy companies are prepared to step up and pick up the slack or not. I guess for Halloween 2022 there’s going to be a lot less chocolate and a lot more candy corn. Hope y’all are ready for that! Here’s the full article I read, you can check it out for yourself.

Hershey warns 'trick-or-treat' supply chain may cause candy shortage

Trick-or-treaters on the hunt for Kit Kats, Twizzlers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups might be in for a disappointment, or rather the people who like to hand them out might. Hershey warned Thursday that it might not be able to meet demand for its signature candies at Halloween and over the holiday season because of a scarcity of raw ingredients and capacity challenges.
