Taylor Swift Announces ‘Midnights’ Album: ‘Stories of 13 Sleepless Nights’

During her acceptance speech for winning Video of the Year for "All Too Well (Taylor's Version)" at this Sunday's (August 28) MTV VMAs, Taylor Swift announced new music to her fans.

“My brand new album comes out October 21,” she said to a cheering crowd. “And I will tell you more at midnight.”

Swift revealed on social media her next full-length album, along with a message: "We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren't - right this minute - about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.

This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching - hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve... we'll meet ourselves.

Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight."

She didn't mention the song titles, instead listing "Track One," "Track Two," Track Three," up through "Track Thirteen." Although there's a chance that those are the actual song titles.

Tonight's award marks Swift’s third time taking home the Best Music Video trophy, making her the artist with the most VMAs Video of the Year awards with three wins. Swift previously earned the award with 2015’s “Bad Blood” and 2019’s “You Need to Calm Down.” Three artists have won the award twice: Beyoncé (for “Single Ladies” and “Formation”), Rihanna (for “Umbrella” and “We Found Love”), and Eminem (for “The Real Slim Shady” and “Without Me”).
