The Kicks Wake Up Krew

Weekday Mornings 5:30 - 10:00

It’s Friday, time for Dub’s Football Picks – Week 9! I had great week last week. I went 5-1. I only missed one NFL game last Sunday. I’m looking to keep the hot streak going. Currently my win-loss record sits at 21 correct picks and 15 incorrect picks. As long as I can keep the amount of wins ahead of the amount of losses, I’ll be happy. There are some really big games this week, both in college and the NFL.

None of them are bigger this week than Georgia/Tennessee! If you want to catch up on my picks from last week, click here.

These are the games I’m picking this week

  • Clemson @ Notre Dame Saturday at 7:30pm on NBC
  • Alabama @ LSU Saturday at 7pm on ESPN
  • Tennessee @ Georgia Saturday at 3:30pm on CBS
  • Los Angeles Chargers @ Atlanta Falcons Sunday at 1pm on FOX
  • Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets Sunday at 1pm on CBS
  • Tennessee Titans @ Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at 8:20pm on NBC

Country Stars Who Were Also College Football Stars

College football season is well underway.  And while there are many stars who also cheer for their favorite team each week, did you know there are some country stars who were also college football stars?

It’s true! Some of your favorite artists haven’t always just been in the spotlight on stage.  There were a few who donned their football gear and hit the turf on Saturdays in college.

And of course, when it comes to country artists, we also have some who didn’t play football, but they did play other sports! Did you know Garth Brooks threw the javelin at Oklahoma State? Then you have Kip Moore who played basketball and golf in college. In high school, Carrie Underwood was quite the athlete too, playing softball and basketball!

Many country stars are still big college football fans too.  It’s no surprise that Garth Brooks is still a die-hard Oklahoma State fan.  And with Kenny Chesney, it’s no secret that he’s a Tennessee Volunteers fan (and we’re sure he’s still on cloud 9 from that win over Alabama)!

As for Dustin Lynch, he’s a Florida Gators fan, with his dad playing for the Gators back in the 70s. Tim McGraw is a huge LSU fan.  And we all know where Darius Rucker’s loyalty lies- with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

No matter what team they cheer for, or you cheer for, we can all bond over our love of the game! And even though some of their careers ended due to injury, we are glad that the obstacles led these guys on to become country stars!
