Have you ever wondered how Kenny Chesney Stays lean?

At the beginning of his career, Kenny Chesney ate pizza after shows and drank beer. When he and Tim McGraw got together, it was a lot of beer!

I met Kenny as his career was getting started. I remember when he came to Greenville while I was working at WESC and he opened for Aaron Tippin. It was just an acoustic set, too. No band. Just Kenny and his guitar. After the show he and I went to a local club and he got on stage and played a few songs. That would be fun to see now....maybe a dive bar tour?

Once, I was in a restaurant in Nashville and I heard someone say "hello, Tee" and it was Kenny, just sitting there eating breakfast alone. No way he could do that today as a superstar.

Now in his fifties, our friends at Taste of Country talked to Kenny about his diet. It's simple, but as you can tell by looking at him, it works.

First, he avoids carbs, but only after 5pm. Kenny says "I eat protein and double up on my vegetables," he explains. "You go to bed at night without eating any carbs, and you wake up feeling leaner.

If he has the urge to snack at night? "I do have a protein-based protein shake, so if I am hungry at 8 or 9 p.m., instead of eating, I'll just down that, and it really helps you lean down a lot."

Also, no beer on tour. Now, that would be hard to do, but that's how Kenny Chesney stays lean.

BTW, here's a list that Kenny is on and it proves he works hard on his diet and his career.
