68th official occurrence of Veterans day, where the United States gathers to celebrate to honor the millions of people who have served in conflicts going back to World War I .  Today, Let's meet a few Veterans of the  O'Kelley Family!

Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day)

  • On November 11, 1919, President Woodrow Wilson issued a message to his countrymen on the first Armistice Day,
  • Congress adopted a resolution on June 4, 1926, requesting that President Calvin Coolidge issue annual proclamations calling for the observance of November 11
  • Approved on May 13, 1938, making November 11 in each year a legal holiday.
  • Originally scheduled for celebration on November 11.  In 1971 Veterans Day was moved to the fourth Monday of October.
  • 1978, it was moved back to its original celebration on November 11.

Why Do We Celebrate?

This is a holiday that we as Americans we should not forget. Without our Veterans, we wouldn't have the rights and freedoms we have today.  Even though we remember on Memorial Day those who gave their lives in battle  As our veterans get older and pass away, some of those folks don't get the tribute they deserve.  So today, It doesn't matter if your Veteran is living or passed but didn't pass in the line of duty serving our country, let's take this day and remember ALL of the Veterans

I remember all the veterans today.  Let's meet a few Veterans Of The O'Kelley Family!  My Father, Lester Valley O'Kelley.   He passed away 6 years ago.  My Brother In Law, David Roy Seigler.  Today David is in his 80s and still as active as he was when he was 50  These men helped shape me into the man I am today To these two men and millions of other men and women across our great country, Today, I Say Thank you!
