Garnett Johnson to be Sworn-In as Augusta’s Mayor December 20
Garnett Johnson will be sworn-in as Augusta’s next mayor during a ceremony Tuesday, December 20, at the Municipal Building downtown.
Johnson defeated Richmond County Tax Commissioner Steven Kendrick in a runoff in June to become Augusta’s 85th mayor.
His swearing-in ceremony is at 10:00 am Tuesday in the second floor auditorium of the Municipal Building, however, Johnson doesn’t officially take office until January 1.
Johnson replaces Hardie Davis, who has served as mayor since January 1, 2015.
Recently, Johnson announced that Jasmine Smith will serve as Chief of Staff in the Mayor’s Office. She is currently Associate Vice President for Workforce Solutions at the Augusta Metro Chamber. Brennan Meagher has been named Communications and Community Liaison. She’s currently Program Director at Augusta Locally Grown.
