Kimberly Kelly Visited Beasley Augusta
It’s been another great day here at the station. Kimberly Kelly visited Beasley Augusta and played for us! I immediately knew I was going to like her. With her bubbly personality and Texas accent, I knew we were in for a treat. Not only did I enjoy the songs she played for us, but her stories were amazing too. Somewhere along the way, James Brown’s name came up. So of course, we had to let her know that James Brown is from the Augusta area. That led to even more crazy, funny stories. We laughed, shared stories, heard some great country music, and of course grabbed a few photos too.
Kimberly is from Lorena, Texas, near Waco. She actually has a Master’s degree, which she earned while working full-time. Her sister, Kristen, is also a singer and signed a record deal back in 2012. Kimberly has sung harmony with Kristen while on tour with Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, and Alan Jackson. And having that experience with her sister really helped her as she developed as an artist. While she does write music, she learned along the way that not every artist writes every song they sing.
Kimberly’s husband is also a songwriter. He helped her write and produce her album I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen. That album was released in 2022.
While she was here, Kimberly talked about meeting and working alongside Billy Joe Shaver. You can read more about that, and how her album title is connected to that relationship, on her website!
Since they had nothing else on the agenda for today, Kimberly and her team were going to head out and explore a bit in Augusta today. She was determined to head downtown and see the James Brown statue!
