So whats on Dub’s playlist this week? Metallica! Yep, you read that right, Metallica, and I have a reason for it. First of all, I’ve loved Metallica since I was in middle school. I feel like most boys go through a “really getting into rock music” phase in middle school, I know I did. I really started digging into Metallica around seventh grade.
There is a specific reason why I chose Metallica this week, and it has to do with St. Patricks Day. You’re probably thinking, what the heck does Metallica have to do with St. Patricks Day? Don’t worry I’ll tell you. Back in 1998, Metallica released an album of cover songs called “Garage Inc”. That was the first album I’d heard by them.
On “Garage Inc” there was a cover of a song called “Whiskey In The Jar”. Its honestly a traditional Irish song, but this version is all “Metallica-ized”. I don’t think thats a real word, but it is now! So being that we are two days away from St. Patricks Day, I’m giving you an Irish song, just a little more rocked up. This song always gets me fired up, and I hope it does the same for you.
