Ashley McBryde recently won her first Grammy. She admits that she would not mind telling her younger self that it will all be okay. However, she told us she wouldn't give away too many details to herself.
Ashley said, "I started playing guitar when I was 9, started learning bass and things when I was 12, but I think if I could go to 16-year-old me, who was pretty angry, just really frustrated, like, 'How am I going to work this out, I have to have a real job, but I just really want to make songs up.' if I could grab her by the shoulders – I would say 'I want to tell you what happens, but it's so cool, it involves Wynonna Judd and a few other of your heroes, and they'll just text you. You're going to get a text from Reba – but I'm not going to tell you why.'"
She concludes, "That's what I'd tell 16-year-old me. It gets really cool."
McBryde's latest single on country radio is a song called "Light On In The Kitchen."

Ashley recently showed that she could write a song in a pinch and did just that with an impromptu performance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Jennifer told Ashley, "You are a great storyteller. Let me give you a few stories and see if you can come up with some songs with it. Can you handle that?" McBryde responds, "Yeah, no problem."
One lady in the audience tells Ashley about getting set up on a date by a friend to find out when she met that "perfect date" that it was actually her cousin. McBryde quipped, "It's already a country song." Then she is handed a guitar and immediately starts to play. She sings the lyrics right off the top of her head, "Last night a friend of mine said I should go out with a guy she knows / My heart took off at the thought of falling in love with someone / Turns out the guy she knew was my cousin (laughing). "
This could be a big week for Ashley McBryde as she attends the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards as a double nominee on Sunday (2/5). Her fifth and sixth GRAMMY nominations are for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her chart-topping duet "Never Wanted To Be That Girl" with Carly Pearce and for Best Country Album for her project Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville.
When she got the news a few weeks ago, she said in a statement, "I'm so proud to be able to share these nominations with so many friends and collaborators – for a duet we wrote and took to No. 1 with Carly and the entire cast of Lindeville, where we gave ourselves the opportunity to change the approach and make decisions based solely on serving the songs." She added, "I've always said that recognition from the Recording Academy and joining the Grand Ole Opry are the two best things that could ever happen to you as an artist, so here I stand just in awe of this moment. It's such an honor to be right here right now. And especially in such good company."
Ashley has had a few significant years in country music. She will perform "Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville Live," featuring the cast of collaborators and special guests performing songs at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on February 15 and 16.
Here, we take a look at her last few years in country music. Will she become one of country's newest Grammy darlings this week?
