According to CNN, Foot Locker is closing 400 stores within the next 3 years. This is part of their efforts to “become more relevant to younger shoppers.” It looks like this plan will entail relaunching the brand, and adding experiential new store concepts. By closing underperforming stores, the brand will be able to simplify operations.
The 400 stores that are closing will account for only 10% of their total sales. While they are closing those stores, it seems their new strategy includes opening larger, “more experiential expressions” of the brand with a wider variety of product.
Champs Sports stores are also under the same company, and 125 of those stores will be closing this year.
No word on whether Foot Locker closing these 400 stores will affect our local stores at the Augusta Mall and in Aiken.
Spring and Summer In Augusta, There’s Nothing Like It
I don’t know about you, but Spring in Summer in Augusta, There’s nothing like it. As the weather is warming up, other than the pollen, The trees and plants are coming alive. The dead leaves are alive again and it just changes your mindset. Now I will be the first to say that I love WINTER. I may be the only one who does. I love building fires inside and out, I love the early sunset. Once we spring forward, I like that also. I’ve started thinking about all the fun things that happen in the spring and fall!
Events in the Spring and Summer
- Spring Wing Fest
- Golf Week
- Rock For Dough
- Augusta’s Downtown Market.
- The Farmers Market in Aiken
- In Trenton, The Peach Festival
- Amp The Alley in Aiken
- The Spring Greek Festival
These are just a few of the things that come to mind. We get more time together with friends and families with cookouts and gatherings. Vacation, to the beach or to the mountains, it’s still a vacation. Sitting out on the deck maybe with a cold one and just enjoying the sunset. Taking a boat road to see the sunset or just a wonderful by the pool.
No matter how you look at it, even me, who likes to complain that it’s too hot and I want to sun to set at 4, we live in the most amazing place to enjoy spring and summer. We can make day trips to the beach or the mountains. We can travel within a few hours to enjoy what the Upstate, the midlands, and the low country have to offer in a lot of different ways.
I’m about to take a trip down memory lane here and show you some of the events that I am looking for to in the next few months.
