What To Expect When You Rent Your House Tournament Week
So you want to rent your house for golf week and you wonder what you’ll have to deal with? What To Expect When You Rent Your House Tournament Week. I’ve thought about it and plan on doing it, but have yet to be brave enough to give up my house for the week.
We’ve all wondered what goes on behind the scenes and I found someone who rents houses and they’ve agreed to let me in on some things you’ll have to deal with, but they asked that they remain anonymous.
Where Do All Of These People Come From?
People come from all over the world for that one special week each year. As far as rentals, most of the customers are from Asia and the UK. There seems to be a lot of Scottish guests.
Celebrities
Any celebrities rent ? Of course! If you see them around town they are likely staying in one of your friends homes.
Best Celebrity Story?
Best celebrity story? My two favorites, I sat with about 50 people listening to a former US President from Texas tell stories (and fabulous jokes) it was a highlight for sure. I’ve also seen a very currently famous pop star playing a grand piano shirtless.
That’s Just Weird
Weirdest thing you’ve encountered? Oh Dear. No one seems to know how toilets work. Plumbers get rich this week.
Busiest Days?
There are now 3 parts of the tournament. The ANWA & Drive, Chip & Putt, which bring in families. The practice rounds that brings in many first timers and a party crowd. Lastly the tournament days brings in more corporate visitors and lifelong badge holders. They are all equally as chaotic in different ways.
It’s Cold In Here
Strange requests. I once got a call from a guest at 2 AM asking me to come over and change the thermostat in the house because he was cold and didn’t know where it is.
Demand This Year
Is demand high this year? Demand is down a little. The year after Covid was the WILDEST with the biggest demand. Everyone wanted out of their house and wanted to check things off their bucket list. This Masters Sunday is Easter so it usually slows it down a bit.
Well, That’s Expensive
Highest price house(s) this is something I don’t like to share because I think it’s a great secret that Augustans should keep to themselves and not publish. I can say that the house that I know of that gets the most money is one of my favorite houses I have ever been in and it’s worth every penny.
NFL Star Has Fun
There are rarely incidents but people always like to share the bad stories and not the good ones. My worst rental experience involved a fresh out of rehab former NFL star that hosted a party that could not have been any part of a 12 step program. The homeowner was so cool about it and no damage was done to the house. If walls could talk….
So there you have it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Happy renting and have a great golf week! Don’t forget the food!
