Road Trip: St Pete Beach and Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida. One of my favorite beaches is Pass-a-Grille Beach in Florida. It's next to St Pete Beach on the Gulf Coast. It's still one of my favorite road trips and it used to be a short drive. I live in St. Petersburg for three years and I was 15 minutes away from them.

They're still both a bit like old Florida. Small mom-and-pop breakfast places dotted along the coastline. One of my favorites was The Frog Pond.

If you love an ocean-front laid-back bar, there are plenty of those, too. Even a few rooftop beach bars, like  Level 11 at the Bellwether.

St Pete Beach's neighbor is Pass-a-Grille Beach... my absolute favorite in Florida. A few small bars and mostly VRBO's and a few motels. I used to go to this beach early on the weekends and sit on the beach and have coffee and get a little closer to God. Just a great place to kick back and chill. Cool little oceanfront café, too. Paradise Grille was always my place for breakfast.

If you travel west from Pass-a-Grille, you'll pass through a few small beach towns, like Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, and one of the prettiest beaches in Florida, Clearwater Beach, which is a little too crowded for me.
