Rediscover This Beautiful Augusta Waterfront Gem
Let’s Walk!
It was too pretty of a day not to walk outside, so I tried something new. The North Augusta side of the new pedestrian bridge has a small parking lot, so I parked there and started walking. Rediscover this Beautiful Augusta Waterfront Gem. Many people were out, and seeing so many people on the new bridge was good. I started walking toward the marina and decided to walk all the way to the 13th Street bridge on Augsuta’s Riverwalk.
Yes, That Riverwalk
Yes, that Riverwalk. The one you hear people saying isn’t safe. I had a fantastic walk, and not once did I feel unsafe. Actually, I was completely surprised!
Walking, I saw people running, walking, and playing with their kids in the riverfront playground. Then, I got closer to the 8th Street plaza; it was alive with vendors and plenty of customers. One guy was playing his guitar and singing among the brightly-covered tents of every color, with people shopping in big numbers!
Tents and Vendors Everywhere
After getting to the 13th Street bridge, I decided on the way back; I would walk the lower part of the riverwalk closest to the river. Even more tents and vendors were there, selling everything from local soap to jewelry, food, and more. Plus, kids are playing in the playground, even a small petting zoo, and people are having a picnic on the riverfront picnic tables. I continued to the marina, which was also busy, and back up to the new pedestrian bridge.
Great Place To Walk
On my way across the bridge to my parked truck on the North Augusta side, I couldn’t help but feel really good about living in this area. What a great resource the Augusta Riverwalk is to this area.
To the Augusta commissioners, the old golf gardens near the 13th Street bridge would be an excellent place for another big green space for the Augusta area.
Give It A Chance!
Give the Augusta Riverwalk another chance if you haven’t been in a while. You might be surprised!
