As a former dancer, I absolutely LOVE this story. A 92-year-old woman had a lifelong dream of becoming a Radio City Rockette. Well, this past week, auditions for the Rockettes…

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 20: People line up outside of Radio City Music Hall for the start of auditions to become a Radio City Rockette on April 20, 2023 in New York City. More than 1,000 dancers auditioned for a spot in the Rockettes line for the 2023 Christmas Spectacular and for a chance to be offered a spot in the invite-only Rockettes Conservatory this summer. Well, this past week, auditions for the Rockettes were held at Radio City Music Hall. Over 800 dancers attended, and 92-year-old Mary Silvestri was there!
Apparently, over 80 years ago, Mary planned to audition for the Rockettes in New York City. But, she could not travel into the city alone and no one could take her. Last Thursday though, Mary made it to the auditions!

My Own Dream
At one point, I dreamed of becoming a Rockette too! I started dancing when I was 11 years old, and fell in love with it. Ballet was my true passion, but I did think being a Rockette would be cool too.
One thing though... You actually have to be a certain height to be considered. The height requirement is between 5'5" and 5'10 1/2" according to Broadway World. Unfortunately, I'm only 5'4". The bad part is... I have scoliosis. I was told if my spine was straight, I'd be at least 2-3 inches taller.
So, my dream to become a Rockette was just that... a dream. And of course, along the way, my dreams changed. Because now, I'm living my latest dream of being on a country radio morning show! Funny how life changes. And things work out the way they should!
