Kevin C. Cox/Getty ImagesThe Atlanta Braves Home Run Celebration banned by Major League Baseball. Yes banned! But why? We've got the full story. First of all most teams have some sort of celebration when something good happens. Whether its a touchdown or interception in football, or a home run in baseball, the team celebrates!
According to a Sports Illustrated article, the Braves started wearing a big hat after home runs earlier this season. You might've seen the oversized hats making the rounds on the internet last year. If not, they look like this.
Thats not hurting anyone right? Well apparently it is. According to the Sports Illustrated article, New Era, who makes all of the hats the players wear, got mad about it. New Era said that players wearing a hat other than a New Era violated their exclusive contract with the league. Really?! I mean I think thats being a little petty.
This is just a celebration. Its only meant to be fun. I feel like if New Era wanted to do something cool they could just produce some oversized hats for each team. Instead of squashing the fun, join in the fun! It wasn't hurting anyone or anything. I think New Era should have just left this one alone. You see plenty of New Era logos during every game anyway. Theres no doubt who does the hats for Major League Baseball.
