TikTok Of The Day – May 4: Have We Forgotten How To Skip?

Think about it... when was the last time you skipped?  Chances are it's been a while, right? Skipping seems like such a simple thing, but the truth is, it does take some coordination! Have we forgotten how to skip as adults?

I remember when I was teaching dance classes as a high schooler.  The classes I taught were often 3-5 year olds.  I didn't realize until then that skipping wasn't something we were able to do until around 4-6 years old. There were times when we were teaching the basic parts of a skip to help these little kids!

According to the OT Tool Box, "Skipping is a developmental milestone or marker that generally emerges around age 5, with a range of age 4-6 years. For many kids, skipping emerges without intervention, just the way reaching, crawling, or walking develops."

The reason this even came to mind was because of this TikTok video I stumbled upon!  Such a great moment captured on camera.  And it did make me wonder about skipping... have we forgotten how as adults?  I don't think I have... but I'll have to try it out!

All this about skipping... I had to poll the office.  And the results were EPIC!  I laughed so hard and had so much fun with it!

A museum in Hastings, Nebraska recently installed a 6-foot statue of the Kool-Aid Man.  Kool-Aid has been a staple in households for years.  And in fact, Kool-Aid was invented back in 1927! But it has us reminiscing about our childhood!  There are many brands that remind us of childhood, and we'll take a look at the top 5 below!

There are so many things that can take you back to your childhood: sounds, smells, songs, and certain brands.  A small thing can easily remind you of the days before adult responsibilities took over. It's crazy to think of how we all wanted to grow up so fast!

Kool-Aid is one of those brands that remind us of childhood.  But in a recent survey, Kool-Aid came in at number 7.  Other brands on the list include: Disney, Mattel, Nerf, Hasbro, Slinky, Lincoln Logs, Silly Putty, and Big Wheels.

Not sure how it was in your household... but a game of Monopoly could easily cause some arguments or last FOREVER. Hearing, "Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200" will for sure take you back!

Hot Wheels is a brand that has held its own throughout the decades.  When it comes to die-casts, Hot Wheels is the first, and usually the only, brand that comes to mind.  Some people still have their massive collection of cars too!

It's not just the name that can take you back! The smell of Play-Doh is also something that reminds us of childhood.  And throughout the years, Play-Doh has definitely expanded!

LEGO is a brand that's loved by so many, and has been loved for years.  Creativity is unlimited with those colorful blocks... just don't leave them on the floor. Stepping on one of those will definitely have you questioning your love of the blocks!

Did you have the ORIGINAL Nintendo console? We did. Many hours were spent playing Mario Bros. And if the cartridge didn't work... you took it out and blew the dust out and tried again.
