Of all the major metros across the country, Augusta ranked as the sixth best city for motorcyclists on the list. Examining the local weather was a key factor in what AutoInsurance.org looked at in order to determine the best cities to ride. They found Augusta typically has 108 annual days of precipitation on per year. The average temperature in the state of Georgia is 63.5 degrees.
City Conditions
Safety was the second most important data point examined in this report. AutoInsurance.org found that there are 12.95 motorcycle related deaths per one million residents. It had the lowest fatality rate of all the cities on the list. It’s important to note that helmet laws are not the same in every state. The state of Georgia requires you to wear a helmet. You could be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 for not wearing one.
Where To Ride

They’re all a big part of what makes heading out on two wheels so appealing,” AutoInsurance.org states about what they look for physically in each greater city area. “Whether it’s a well-traveled favorite or a brand-new route, finding the best places for motorcycle riders is an ongoing adventure,” they conclude.
Statista reports, that their last public compilation showed Georgia had 213,096 motorcycle registrations in a year.
So where do they go? Heading out of the city, there are a lot of great motorcycle adventures to embark on. You can head down the south coast or west across the state. AutoInsurance.org points out the Savannah River northwest passage that rides through Sumpter National Forest as a favorite route.
The Augusta to Springfield adventure is also well-known for its scenery. It’s approximately 100 miles of flat roads that takes you through plantations and forests filled with greenery.
The Suches Loop is also a great bike attraction. It’s an ambitious ride (approximately 50 miles) with twists, hills, and sharp turns. It takes you around the base of the Blood Mountain with other mountain passes along the way.
