Very walkable

This weekend, I went to see my mom in Seneca, S.C., and decided to stop in Greenville and see some friends while I was that close. I lived in Greenville for about eight years, and it was cool then, but now...wow! As a matter of fact, the New York Times has ranked Greenville as #14 in its list of top travel destinations for 2023. Day Trip: Augusta To Greenville, South Carolina - 2hr 20m.

Southern Hospitality

I checked in my hotel, and since I wasn't meeting my friends til later, I went exploring.  First, everyone I met was so friendly, southern hospitality at its finest,  and the city was alive on this beautiful Saturday with musicians playing on the sidewalks. The restaurants, with more than 100 downtown, were full of people enjoying a late lunch on the patios and open-air seating.

One-of-a-Kind Bridge

Falls Park on the Reedy is a great place for a walk. I went around 6:30 am on Sunday, and it was quiet and already had some people out exercising. It's beautiful and a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. The Liberty Bridge at the Falls is perfect for a great view. It's the only curved suspension bridge of this design in the country, and cables support it on one side. It's a work of art!

Get Your Steps In

It's very easy to get in your steps in Greenville because it's a very walkable downtown. I got in almost 7000 steps and didn't even realize it til the next day when I checked. You can spend a weekend in Greenville and not see everything, and that's just in the downtown area. Greenville is nestled up against the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and that may be a trip for another day, like maybe, the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Drinks

I had an early dinner with friends at Sushi Murasaki, which was delicious. Also, drinks at the rooftop bar at the AC Marriott is a good stop, and I found a great bourbon bar called NEAT Bourbon Bar; it's really cool with hard-to-find bourbons in a laid-back atmosphere with leather chairs and an excellent bar.

I hope you get to experience Greenville soon!
