Morgan Wallen Wraps Wrigley Field Shows With $100k Donation
Morgan Wallen played his “One Night At A Time World Tour” last week with two back-to-back nights at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. Morgan celebrated the final night (June 23) at the home of the Chicago Cubs backstage with students from the nearby Baker and Bowen High Schools. The cause for the celebration was a presentation of a $100k check from Wallen’s charity, The Morgan Wallen Foundation, to revitalize South Chicago’s Bessemer Park baseball field.
Wallen said in a statement, “Our mission with the Morgan Wallen Foundation is to support youth programs in the areas of sports and music. We are thrilled to donate $100k to Bessemer Park to give the kids a place to play ball here in South Chicago.” He added, “This donation, combined with being back on stage performing for my fans tonight at Wrigley, is a true doubleheader for me.”
Morgan’s donation to the field, the home field of Baker and Bowen High School students, complemented a previous $150k donation from Cubs Charities. Altogether, the $250k donated to the park will contribute to a fully upgraded diamond with a new backstop, side wings, and dugouts, including extended side wings, and will include rehabilitating the playing surface for multiple levels of play.

Bailey Zimmerman chatted with us recently about his incredible last few years and how he met his tourmate Morgan Wallen for the very first time. Zimmerman told us that he was on a Zoom call with his record label as he was driving up to Big Loud Records in Nashville to write some songs, and he saw Ernest in the parking lot and wanted to meet him. He said that he told his label he wanted to wrap up the call to say hello to the songwriter, but it was not to be. However, there was someone else in the parking lot that said hi to him.
Bailey explained, “I look up, and there’s Morgan walking to me out of his truck. And I said, ‘Hey man.’ And he’s like, ‘Hey man, you’re Bailey,’ and I’m like, ‘Holy crap, you know my name. Holy crap Morgan, I’m a massive fan,’ and he’s like, ‘Dude, I’m a massive fan of you; you’ve got that song ‘Fall In Love,’ right?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I freaking do.’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ve been jamming that in my truck I and my son have been jamming that song, man; he loves it.'”
Zimmerman added, “What a way to meet somebody, you know. That’s what really made me fall in love with him as a person. He’s never treated me wrong one time. He always shoots you straight; that’s the thing; he’s a real dude.”
