Dub’s Playlist This Week- Chris Stapleton
What will we find on Dub’s playlist this week? This week its a song from the album that put Chris Stapleton on the map. I’ve been a fan of Chris for years. In my opinion there isn’t a bad song on any of his albums. Of course, however, there are some songs that I like a little more than others, and the song this week is one of those.
Back in the mid 2010s, word started going around about this guy named Chris Stapleton. Everyone around Nashville was talking about him. There was a big buzz around this guy. The world wouldn’t really get introduced to Chris until 2015 though. Thats when his album “Traveller” came out, and when it did, it changed the game!
Up until then the “bro country” sound was all over the radio. Stapleton brought a traditional country sound with a mix of soul, blues and Southern rock to the table. It was a sound we hadn’t heard in a while, and it was a breath of fresh air honestly. That album still holds up as a classic. There truly isn’t a bad song on it.
Later that year Stapleton performed with Justin Timberlake on the CMAs, and then the whole world knew who he was. I can say I was a Stapleton fan from the beginning, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that its time for some new music from Chris Stapleton.
