KICKS 99 Guitar Pull 2023 Update
Don’t look now, but KICKS 99 Guitar Pull season is a little over a month away! We’re busy creating artwork, setting up ticket stops, ordering cool stuff like the souvenir bags on every seat, full of good stuff from the Augusta area, and more.
We’re still busy trying to book some great acts for you guys. We have some, but, working on more. It’s a process that takes months. Nashville has been very kind to the Augusta area over the years, with some of the best talent in the country music world playing our show. Scheduling artists around their major concert dates takes a lot of time and patience, but it works out every year.
Sound is also being talked about for a few months ahead of the date. Our sound company is the same one that does huge concerts like Springsteen and more. In this world, if an artist has sound problems on stage, no one is happy; that’s why we have had the same great company for many years doing guitar pull.
Also on our to-do list is booking the James Brown Arena almost a year in advance, booking hotels, and finding out what the artists need when they get here. It can be extra towels, a bottle of good bourbon, a trip to the mall, or whatever they request. We have three vehicles standing by at all times the day of the show to make sure they get where they want to go as quickly as possible. The good news is country artists don’t demand anything, they are so easy to work with, and we know most of them.
This will be our 24th year and our 23rd show. We had to take one year off for Covid. It’s a really exciting time here at the station, and everyone in our building is already getting pumped up for another year. We couldn’t do it without you and can’t wait to join together at the JBA in November.
The date of the show, the artist line-up, and more are about six weeks away! It’s time to get excited!
In the meantime, here are some guitar pull memories in pictures for you.
