Great small town in South Carolina

This small town on the Savannah River is known as South Carolin's Riverfront. North Augusta is a charming small town with plenty to do, from the Savannah River to the North Augusta Greeneway, which provides 12 miles of paved walking trails named after former Mayor Thomas Greeneway. This South Carolina Riverfront Town Began As A Resort In The Early 1900s.

North Augusta began as a resort town in the early 1900s. The luxury hotel, Hampton Terrace, attracted the rich and famous, and the movie industry once considered it as Hollywood before deciding on California. North Augusta city leaders didn't want the movie industry because they feared an influx of sin.

Incorporated in 1906, North Augusta has become a desirable place to live in South Carolina. Riverside Village is home to SRP Park, home of the Augusta Greenjackets, a single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Also, this area has restaurants, apartments, and a riverfront amphitheater named after North Augusta native Sharon Jones.

Hammonds Ferry is next door to Riverside Village and  Charleston-like community on the river with cottage-style carriage homes and traditional single-family homes. Hammond’s Ferry is named for the ferry service that, in the late 1700s, provided transportation across the Savannah River from Augusta, Georgia, to  Campbell Town, SC,  which we know today as North Augusta.

There are more great restaurants in Hammonds Ferry, like Manuels Bread Cafe and The Larder.

He’s usually there at least a few times a year. He lives in North Augusta and on Saturdays in the fall, you’ll find him cooking out and watching his Clemson Tigers.
