The Best Country Songs For Georgia And South Carolina
A new playlist has been created with the best country songs for each state. So what were the best ones for our area? What are the best songs for Georgia and South Carolina? We’re about to find out. I’m wondering if we’ll agree with the picks, or if we could’ve come up with some better songs. Time to dive into the list.
This list comes from WideOpenCountry.com. And what they did was create a playlist of the best country songs for all 50 states. I’m sure this was no easy task. After doing some Googling, I found at least 15 songs about Georgia, and there were about that many about South Carolina as well. I don’t know how they narrowed it down to just one song per state, but I can’t wait to see which songs they chose.
However, before we look at Georgia and South Carolina, let’s see what songs were picked for some of our neighboring states here in The South.
- Alabama- “My Home’s In Alabama” by Alabama
- Florida- “Miami, My Amy” by Keith Whitley
- Tennessee- “Tennessee Mountain Home” by Dolly Parton
- North Carolina- “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Show
So now let’s see what Wide Open Country picked for Georgia.
“Georgia On My Mind” by Ray Charles.
Did you really expect anything different? I mean it is the official state song of Georgia after all. A few others they could’ve picked from were “Highway 20 Ride” by The Zac Brown Band or “Chattahoochie” by Alan Jackson.
Now lets see what song was picked for South Carolina.
“South Carolina Low Country” by Josh Turner
That’s a pretty good choice. There are a lot of songs about Carolina, such as “Carolina In My Mind” by James Taylor or “Carolina” by Eric Church, but which Carolina are they talking about? If you’d like to see the full list from Wide Open Country, just click here.

The Top Country Songs Of 2023...So Far
What are the Top Country Songs of 2023 so far? Thats hard to say, we’ve had some great songs come out this year, and we’re only half way through the year. Can we narrow it down to just ten? Who will be at the top of the list? Will is be one of our many country superstars, or will it be a newer artist who is just popping on the scene? Lets find out.
According to Country Now, these are the top songs of the year so far. How did they come up with this list? Well its based on the songs you hear us play every single day on Kicks99. These are the most played songs on country radio so far for 2023. Being as I work in country radio, I can’t wait to see if I agree with this list.
Before we get into the Top 5, lets see what songs landed at 6-10.
- At Number 10 was “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” by Cole Swindell
- At Number 9 was “Gold” by Dierks Bentley
- At Number 8 was “Wild As Her” by Corey Kent
- At Number 7 was “Dancin’ In The Country” by Tyler Hubbard
- At Number 6 was “Handle On You” by Parker McCollum
So far I’m agreeing with this list. However, I’m a little surprised that Jelly Roll hasn’t appeared on this list or “wait in the truck” by Hardy and Lainey Wilson. That song was huge earlier this year. And of course Jelly Roll has been the story of the year so far for 2023. Lets see what the rest of the list says.
