Dub's Playlist

On Dub's playlist this week, I'm featuring an artist that you would find on my Country Music Mount Rushmore. I've been a big Johnny Cash fan for years, and that's who is on the playlist this week. The hard part has been picking a song. There are so many great Cash songs. The man's career spanned the course of over 50 years.

I was first really introduced to Johnny Cash's music when I started working at Kicks. Back in the mid 2000's on Sunday nights we ran a show called "Retro Country USA". All they played was old school country. That's where I was first really introduced to classic country. Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Conway Twitty, and of course Johnny Cash!

Classic country had me hooked! I loved running the board for that show every Sunday night. It got me wanting to hear more from those artists, especially Johnny Cash. I wanted to hear every thing he'd ever done, and I set to out hear it all. All of his classic stuff from Sun Records all the way up to his final albums on the American label. In fact those final American albums might be my favorite Cash stuff.

If you need more Johnny Cash in your life, click here.

By the way, if you want to check out all of the other songs that I've featured on the playlist, just click here.

He's a country music icon and an American icon. Everyone knows who Johnny Cash is and for dang good reason! So on Dub's playlist this week I'm featuring one of Johnny Cash's biggest songs Folsom Prison Blues.
