Georgia Has 7 of the Most Picturesque Small Towns in the U.S.
There’s something special about the charm of a Georgia small town. During the summer months, driving around Georgia and checking out the state’s small havens can be so fun. Also, traveling to smaller towns can be a great way to beat the big crowds when vacationing. While other people might be packing big cities, smaller towns offer a more intimate vacation experience. In that spirit, Georgia has a whopping seven of the most picturesque small towns in the U.S., according to a new study.
The picturesque small town study comes from the travel experts at the travel website North Carolina Travel Guides. In it, they ranked the most picturesque small towns in America by looking at 500 small towns. The ranking is based on search trends, popularity for photography with the general public, and popularity with photographers. By the way, the definition of a small town, according to Barrington Residential, is a town that “is defined by the US Census Bureau as having a population between 25,000 and 50,000 residents.” A city, meanwhile, has a central population of 50,000 or more residents.
Before we get to our state, let’s look at the top five most picturesque mall downs in the U.S. Coming in at No. 1 is Fredericksburg, Texas. Following that town is Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Orange Beach, Alabama; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and – here we are – Madison, Georgia rounding out the top 5 most picturesque small towns in America.
So, Madison, Georgia, is the No. 5 most picturesque small town in America. Of the town, the publication states, “Madison, located in the heart of Georgia, is home to charming restaurants, picturesque quaint streets, and great parks. From pretty antebellum houses to gorgeous gardens, you can find beautiful places in the historic downtown area of the town.” The other Georgia cities on the list are Blue Ridge (42), Covington (47), Brunswick (56), Helen (64) and Blairsville (83).
