Wait In The Truck

This is Ike's Korner Grille in Spartanburg, SC. It's so unassuming that I sat in my truck for 5 minutes before going in. I wondered if this would be one of those times I would be disappointed.

Well, for the record, I wasn't disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised with a Southern hello when I walked in. I got there about 11:30 this past Saturday, and a few people were already eating, but by noon, Ike's was full of customers who knew all about this place and their burgers. The Ike Burger

I got the Ike burger...imagine that. The Ike burger is a hamburger with mustard, chili, and onions. I also ordered fries, and they were fresh-cut in-house, which was a pleasant surprise.

The first thing I thought when they placed the basket in front of me was this is a big burger! A huge patty and lots of those great fries. I didn't think I could finish it, but I did! Looking around, I could tell these were mainly locals who knew each other and were Ike's regulars.

Everyone I saw had a burger, but they serve hot dogs, salads, and more. The burger and fries were great, and I'll be back when I'm in the area. The atmosphere was great, too, with a large table down the middle of the diner with family-style eating.  Also, a bar where I sat overlooking the grill and busy workers.

60 Years

This diner has been in business for over 60 years, started by Ike's grandfather. I just loved the feel of the place, too. Nothing fancy, just a small diner with great food and happy customers.

Four beef patties, two thick slices of bologna, 15 slices of bacon, yes, I said 15. 6 ounces of cheese, two eggs, lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayonnaise, chili, jalapeños, and slaw, served on a hamburger bun with french fries.
