Can you buy beer at Georgia football games this season? We’ve found the answer to that question, and it might not be the one that you were hoping for. It would appear that most of your cold beer consumption would have to take place in the parking lots in and around Sanford Stadium in Athens.
According to 11 Alive, The University of Georgia has once again decided that they will withhold public alcohol sales to the general public during the 2023 season. And according to the 11 Alive article, it doesn’t sound like that’s going to change anytime soon. At first I thought this was an NCAA rule, but apparently it isn’t.
I was reading an article on Bleacher Report and it said the NCAA doesn’t have a rule against alcohol sales however there is one time it does prohibit it. Alcohol sales and advertising are prohibited during championship games. So it’s not an NCAA rule like I’d thought before. However, you can get alcohol at Sanford Stadium, for a price.
Beer and wine have been for sale at football games since 2019. However its in some club areas that require pricey donations to the athletic program. Those who rent private suites can also stock them with alcohol that is delivered before games. Or if you know someone who has access to those areas, just see if you can go to the game with them.
You can get alcohol other places on the campus of the University of Georgia. The school began selling beer and alcoholic seltzers beginning in fall 2021 for men’s and women’s basketball games in Stegeman Coliseum. Also in the spring 2022 at baseball games at Foley Field and softball games at Jack Turner Softball Stadium. However, 90,000 people in Sanford Stadium, thats a little tougher to pull off.

Since we’re talking about Georgia football, let’s go back to earlier this year when The Dawgs won back to back National titles.
The Dawgs Are National Champs...Again!
The Dawgs are National Champs for the second year in a row! It’s really difficult to repeat as National Champions, but Georgia did it last night. I honestly can’t believe I’m saying that we’re back to back National Champions. Growing up as a Georgia fan, that phrase didn’t seem like one that I would ever have the privilege of saying.
Georgia was always the team that was “almost there”. As a Dawgs fan, we were in the “wait until next year” club. Then the next year would come and we’d come up just short again. There were years when we were just happy with 10 wins and a good bowl game. We couldn’t beat Alabama. We couldn’t beat Florida. That was just a sad fact for us Georgia fans years ago.
There were a lot of years spent walking out of our favorite sports bar just disappointed at what we’d just seen.
However, those days are over, at least for now! Georgia has been a power house in the SEC for a few years now. Back to back National Championships prove that Georgia belongs in the National Title conversation, and hopefully will be there for years to come.
I love my Dawgs. Sanford Stadium is one of my favorite places on this planet. There’s nothing better than a fall afternoon with my friends watching a Georgia game. While we’re going to have to wait several months for the next game, it’s something that will definitely be worth the wait. In the meantime lets bask in this victory! The Dawgs are National Champs again!
